- 1 ½ pounds ground turkey
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups no-salt-added diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- ¼ cup dry red wine (optional)
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 pound whole wheat spaghetti
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown ground turkey, about 5–7 minutes.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Simmer for 15–20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook whole wheat spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8–10 minutes. Drain.
- Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve turkey meat sauce over the spaghetti. Top with fresh herbs or grated Parmesan if desired.
Notes
For richer flavor, simmer the sauce for up to 45 minutes. Add chopped vegetables like zucchini or bell peppers for more nutrition. Store leftovers in airtight containers for up to 4 days.
