  • Yield: 8-10 servings 1x

Description

This Southern Pecan Cobbler is the ultimate comfort dessert! With a buttery crust, a rich caramel-like pecan filling, and a golden-brown topping, it’s the perfect combination of pecan pie and warm cobbler. This easy-to-make dessert is ideal for holidays, family gatherings, or any time you crave a cozy, nutty treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cobbler Base:

    • 1 ½ cups self-rising flour
    • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
    • ⅔ cup whole milk
    • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Pecan Filling:

    • 1 cup chopped pecans
    • 1 cup pecan halves
    • 1 ½ cups light brown sugar
    • 1 ½ cups hot water
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • ½ tsp cinnamon (optional, for extra warmth)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Prepare the batter: In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, and milk until smooth. Stir in melted butter.
  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish—do not stir after this step.
  • Add the pecans: Sprinkle chopped pecans and pecan halves evenly over the batter.
  • Make the caramel filling: In a separate bowl, whisk together brown sugar, hot water, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  • Pour the mixture gently over the batter and pecans. Do not stir—the cobbler will bake into layers!
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • Cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Reheating: Warm in the microwave for 30 seconds or in a 350°F oven for 5-10 minutes.
  • Make-Ahead Tip: Prepare the batter and pecan mixture separately, then bake when ready to serve.
  • Variations:
    • Add ½ cup chocolate chips for a chocolate pecan cobbler.
    • Mix in 1 tbsp bourbon for a Southern-style twist.
    • Use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
