Description

This Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting is rich, velvety, and packed with warm cinnamon spice. Perfect for cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, cakes, and cookies, this frosting is easy to make and adds a tangy-sweet flavor to any dessert. The combination of cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and cinnamon creates a smooth, spreadable frosting that’s irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (1 block) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 34 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 12 tablespoons milk or heavy cream (optional, for consistency)

Instructions

  • Prepare Ingredients: Ensure the cream cheese and butter are at room temperature for a smooth consistency.
  • Mix Cream Cheese & Butter: In a large bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to beat the cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  • Add Flavor: Mix in vanilla extract and cinnamon until well combined.
  • Incorporate Sugar: Gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating on low speed to prevent mess. Increase speed to medium-high and beat until smooth.
  • Adjust Consistency: If the frosting is too thick, add 1 tablespoon of milk or cream at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  • Use Immediately or Store: Spread or pipe onto cinnamon rolls, cakes, or cookies.

Notes

  • For a stronger cinnamon flavor, add an extra ½ teaspoon of cinnamon.
  • For a fluffier texture, whip the frosting for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze for 2 months. Let it come to room temperature and re-whip before using.
  • Pairings: Perfect for cinnamon rolls, pumpkin spice cupcakes, carrot cake, sugar cookies, or banana bread.
